Grants Available for Preservation
The National Trust for Historic Preservation invites non-profits and government agencies to apply for the upcoming round of the Dorothea de Schweinitz Preservation Services Fund, which awards matching seed grants from $1,000 to $5,000 for preservation planning and educational outreach efforts in Washington, DC. A principal goal of the fund is to increase the capacity of preservation groups to revitalize the District through rehabilitation, restoration, and the adaptive use of important historic resources. Typical uses of the fund include feasibility studies for endangered buildings and sites, architectural planning, landscape research and planning, development of heritage education programs, and co-sponsorship of workshops and conferences. The fund does not award grants for building or construction projects, acquisitions, academic research or historic resource surveys for inventories or as preparation for National Register nominations. For your reference, attached is a copy of the Preservation Services Fund application and guidelines. If you wish to apply, please contact Nell Ziehl in the National Trust's Southern Field Office by email Nell_Ziehl@nthp.org or by phone at 202-588-6040. Application postmark deadlines are February 1, June 1 and October 1.
