The Logan Circle Clean-Up & Graffiti Attack Was A Huge Success!
Armed with brooms, shovels, trash bags and buckets of paint, 68 enthusiastic volunteers charged the length of 14th St. from Thomas Circle to U St., declaring war on trash and graffiti. Starting sharply at 10:00am under the able direction of Wayne Dickson and Don Hawkins, workers spread out in teams to paint out numerous patches of graffiti using over 23 gallons of paint, brushes and rollers donated by Duron and other contributing companies. A big measure of thanks goes to Mike Carter, DPW Deputy
Director/Operations, who marshalled the services of DPW's Anti-Graffiti Group, and the Helping Hands
Program. Alan Zich, a Capital Hill resident, fueled by his passion to eliminate graffiti in all sectors of
Washington, DC., offered LCCA invaluable information, coordination and training.
With so many helping hands, the job was done by noon, at which time the tired but happy volunteers
shared hamburgers and hot dogs expertly grilled by impromptu Chef, Eric Wimple, a Q St. neighbor.
We know the graffiti perpetrators will attack again, so we're organizing an ongoing effort.
